“My sculptural work is made to interact with, set in motion, watch and play. Movement is created by human hand or movement of air. The materials I use are new or recycled, metals, wood, stone, plastics, paper, paint and found objects.
My work is a combination of physics and art with ideas and influences including; laws of balance, patterns and structures, ideas and inspiration from nature, mechanics, engineering, lightweight and tensile materials, shapes, colour, light, chance, games, puzzles, day-to-day human activities, experimentation and fun.”
“I enjoy taking on and researching new themes for commissions and infusing given ideas, along with my own ideas and know-how, to produce sculptural artworks for public settings.”
Beeston’s sculpture commissions have been to produce large scale hanging mobiles for public venues such as schools, hospitals and theatres. Projects often begin with research, creative and hands on workshops and evaluations in educational or community settings to provide participants with opportunities to learn and ‘have-a-go’ at the art of making kinetic sculpture, as well as feeding into final bespoke designs.
