Talks & Screenings

 

Each year Kinetica curates and collaborates with numerous organisations and individuals to create a vibrant and engaging programme of talks, screenings, performances and events. The theme for the 2011 fair was 'Body, Brain and Consiousness' and featured performances, talks and panels from our exhibitors and visiting experts, academics and artists from all over the world.

 

11.00 – Musion Academy screenings

12.00 – Ben Tyers“The true artist helps the world by revealing mystic truths”
Tyers explores these hidden ‘truths’, the links between motion and the development of consciousness, and presents some thoughts on existing and possible technology.

13.00 – Jasia Reichardt – The Archive of Artists Working with Technology
Jasia Reichardt presents further highlights from her archive of electronic and new media art.

14.00 – StelarcThe Prosthetic Head
For the first time Stelarc will present a talk using two Heads – his own head and the Prosthetic Head. The Prosthetic Head is an automated, animated and reasonably informed 3D avatar head that speaks to the person who interrogates it.

15.30 – Panel discussion Art, Auditory Stimulation and the Brain, featuring Eugenia Emets and Gaynor O’Flynn.
Eugenia Emets will present her project ‘A-Field’ in which she “conducts” a musical score through the real time activity of her brain. Gaynor 0’Flynn, an artist, musician and performer inspired by how sound affects the mind, is creator of the Beinghuman collective. Discussion chaired by Kinetica’s Tony Langford.
