Jon Pigott is an artist and researcher based in Bristol UK. His kinetic sound works explore the relationship between objects and sound through electromechanical systems and processes. These pieces are often assemblages of found objects or outmoded technologies appropriated for their hidden sonic potential. The work explores connections between kinetic art, sound art and experimental music and it is made using techniques including handmade electronics and digital fabrication as well as more traditional material processes. Jon also writes about kinetic sound sculpture, often from a perspective informed by science and technology and studies (STS). He also leads the Artist Designer: Maker degree at Cardiff Metropolitan University, within the School of Art and Design.
