KIMATICA creative studio, is a London-based multidisciplinary platform whose works explores the intersection between the human body, fashion and technology.

Maria Almena and Nestor Rubio are the founders of Kimatica and directors of it’s brand new project SIMULACRUM, a series of audiovisual ritualistic performances, where they explore and research the combination of new technologies and performing arts.

Tricking the viewers visual perception and taking them on an intensely powerful trip created by body metamorphosis, the combination of reactive visuals, surreal costumes, sound and movement. They work around concepts such as rituals, ceremonies, archetypes, parallel realities, virtual worlds, perception and transitions.

In their shows the body’s movement interact with the visuals using real-time projection mapping techniques. A depth camera is used to generate images that are projected back onto the performer and scenery. The overlapping of two different realities (the physical and the virtual), creates a new augmented reality that gives new meaning to the perceived scene.

They have developed their own art performance pieces for galleries, museums and theatres, as well as dance shows for events, corporative, parties and festivals.

A Contemporary Ritual is Simulacrum’s first art performance piece. It is a shamanic ritual experience using contemporary mediums to highlight the journey through different states of consciousness

The use of new technologies embedded in the ritualistic performance induce a hypnotic, consuming state of psychedelic consciousness, engaging darkness and light, confusion and lucidity, fear and fascination.

This show has been perform at Stockholm fringe festival, Red Gallery, Vibe gallery, Modern panic show and in Kinetic Fair 2013 where they combined it with MUSION 3D holographic techniques.

The Glitchy geisha and Animal Myth are their first dance shows and have been booked for several festivals this summer such as Glastonbury, Roskilde and Bestival, as well as private and corporative events. They also work by commission and can adapt their audiovisual dance shows to any kind of event.
