Aphra Shemza is a London based artist, who recently graduated from Middlesex University, with a First Class Honours in Fine Art. Her work explores and experiments with many different mediums ranging through photography, drawing, sculpture, performance, film and kinetic based installations. Her approach to creating her work starts with abstract, geometric and scientific research and often involves the human body to translate these concepts to an audience.

With the use of mechanics she creates sculptures with a motion, representing a connection to time and giving a unique experience to the viewer. The way in which the viewer responds to her work is a key factor to the way in which it is produced.

This work is part of a series, ‘Composition 1- 1.4’. The concept behind the work is related to the flux of the universe and how life is ever changing, moving and growing. This piece was adapted specifically for an exhibition entitled ‘The Final Broadcast’ (www.finalbroadcast.co.uk). Here the steel poles are bent to represent one analogue and one digital signal. The constant movement of the spheres represent the alarming growth and change of technology. When one thing ends another begins ad infinitum.
